Some thoughts on the age of “How I Made (Insert Amount)” Articles

Before I dive into this piece, I would like to clarify that I am not judging people who do produce pieces labelled as the ones I will address. It is a free world and we are all entitled to post whatever may be on our mind. But with freedom of expression comes the ability to express one’s observations on a specific matter, which is what I’d like to do now.

The motto of this platform is telling meaningful stories and supporting voices that matter. Right now, what I’m noticing is a transfusion of definition. …

Deciding to commit to a freelance career

I was born in 2001, right after the turn of the century. While I may not be able to give you a detailed description of the economic crises having affected the world to this date, I can give you an insight into the crises that are yet to occur.

An incoming grand shift to the economy is planned to take place around the start of 2030, with an increase in the number of automated jobs. …

What if humanity caused its own extinction?

When the blood in your veins returns to the sea, and the earth in your bones returns to the ground, perhaps then you will remember that this land does not belong to you, it is you who belong to this land.”

My mind replays the Native American proverb as I await my train’s arrival. I can’t remember its precise origin, but I’ve come to learn it by heart thanks to my mother’s recital of it before supper each night. I can’t remember the last time I saw her, but I figure I’ve spent…

Well, then my mind dug a little deeper as I pondered the nature of this ball. Its size to be precise. Its diameter is 12, 742 km, out of that of the (observable) universe…

Sipped like red wine

The dentist’s chair reclines
Now I ought to feel as comfortable as ice

Open your mouth for me
So I can see what disease is ruining your sight

My sight’s just fine — my teeth have to shine
If not, there is no end to my sleepless nights

Open your mouth for me
So I can repair the dents cracking your spine

My spine’s just fine — my gums may disagree
If they’re not taken care of, the next war’s on me

What war? What violence do you claim to see? …

A soul can hope

I long for the day when smiles have exiled frowns
When love buys our moments
And moments no longer tick-tock amid fuss

I long for the day when peace will know no barrier
When compassion exceeds distraction
And distraction no longer entertains our laughter

I long for the day when arms will conjoin
When arms lack the definition of anything besides our own branches
And the tree’s branches are recognized as our home

I long for the day when talk comes from the heart
When eyes finally surrender to disbelief
And disbelief is granted to those who never thought a solution would…
